Barn Cats Available for Adoption

We currently have 8 barn cats available for adoption.  All eight cats are healthy, have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, and treated for fleas.  They simply need a new safe outdoor space to call home.  (These are not suitable for indoor cats.)  If you are interested in adopting one or more of these cats needing relocation, please contact us at 815-539-7387.  More information on our Barn Cat Adoption Program is available here.

Update 5/2/09 – All 8 cats have been adopted!  We cannot thank the new caregiver enough for giving these cats a second chance at life.  If you would like to adopt a barn cat, please contact us as there are always cats in need of new homes.

Help for indoor/pet cats

Feral cats originate from owned, pet cats who are not sterilized and are allowed to roam free outside.  Especially in this economy, many people simply cannot afford to have their cat sterilized at a traditional veterinary office.  With no low-cost option in LaSalle County for responsible cat owners to use, how then can we ever hope to solve the feral cat problem?  We can’t.

That is why Illinois Valley Cat Taxi is now able to help you get your indoor/pet cat sterilized.  While our focus will always remain firmly on helping feral cats, we know we are fighting an uphill battle if domestic cats are left to reproduce uncontrollably with kittens dumped at farms or left to fend for themselves outside, where they will go on to reproduce season after season.  If you would like our assistance in getting your domestic cat sterilized, please note these three things:

1. Ferals cats will always get priority scheduling, as they are our primary focus.
2. If you can afford to have your cat sterilized at your local vet’s office, please do so.  Our resources are limited and our mission is to help those families and cats who truly need it.  That said, if you cannot afford traditional veterinary spay/neuter costs or doing so would cause financial hardship, we are happy to assist you – no questions asked.
3. Domestic cats have a different package and price than feral cats.

Domestic Cat Package & Price
*$35.00 per cat
*Basic vet exam
*Spay or Neuter surgery with full compliment of anesthetic and pain reliever

Additional services available:
1 yr. rabies vaccine – $25.00
Distemper vaccine – $25.00
FIV/Felv test – $25.00
Avid Microchip – $25.00

We hope that this will allow more people in the LaSalle County area to be responsible and spay or neuter their cat.  It is the single most important thing you can do to to help animals!
