Volunteers Needed!

We have big ideas for 2010 and need you to help us make them a reality!  Whether you can volunteer for one day a week or one hour a month, whatever your skills are, we need you, cats need you!

We need volunteers for:

Trapping Feral Cats: We have two neighborhoods in Mendota we are targeting for Trap-Neuter-Return.  We are looking for trappers to go out 1-2 days before a spay day and trap as many cats as they can!  Use our traps, use our bait, all we need is your time!  This is a very rewarding volunteer position, you will directly help cats and forever change their lives for the better.

Foster Homes: Foster homes allow us to help as many homeless cats as possible while they wait for adoption.  Kitten season is coming up and we will need fosters to help raise them until they are adopted, and we always have adult cats who would love to be in a home instead of the shelter while they wait for their forever family to find them.  Fosters have direct input on choosing the adoptive family, and while it is never easy to say goodbye to your foster cat – you know that you have just saved a life and will now go on to save even more.  We pay medical expenses and can assist with food and supplies; you provide love and a home.  Please fill out our foster application if you’re interested.

Fundraising: We need volunteers to help run our fundraising events!  This year, we know we will need people to help organize and run a community garage sale,  work the Mendota Sweet Corn Festival booth, work a charity poker run, and there will be countless more activities throughout the year.  Can we put your name down to call when we need help at these events?

Spay Day Client Volunteer: When we return home from the clinic with 30-60 cats, we need assistance unloading the cats and help checking clients out.  Specifically, you will call people’s names when their cats are ready, answer any post-operative questions they may have, help clean up, and generally help pick-up go smoothly.  This volunteer should be very familiar with our organization, organized, able to deal with the public, and available from 8:00 to 9:30pm on Spay Days.
