Cans For Cats

Start saving your aluminum cans and scraps – we now have a 24-hour drop box where you can throw in your bagged aluminum cans or scraps and we will recycle them, with 100% of the proceeds going towards providing low-cost spay/neuter to our community cats, and getting the friendlies off the streets & into loving homes!  The bin is conveniently located behind The Groom Stop (617 Main St.) in downtown Mendota, between the building and the railroad tracks.  There is an opening on the top so you can throw cans in 24-hours a day with no muss or fuss.

It takes about 3,000 aluminum cans to pay for one spay surgery for a homeless cat, so please start saving those suckers!  Not only is it good for the environment, but it’s good for cats!  In addition to regular aluminum soda/beer cans, now lots of items come in aluminum cans:  Friskies cat food, Fancy Feast cat food, Mighty Dog and Old Roy dog food, even Armour vienna sausages come in aluminum cans!  Remember, a magnet will not stick to aluminum, so that’s a great way to double check.  If it’s made of aluminum, throw it in our bin!  Thanks so much!
