Our organization could not exist without volunteers. As a private, nonprofit organization, we rely on the assistance of caring and hard-working volunteers in all of our programs.
Volunteers are asked to:
- submit an online application
- sign a Release and Waiver of Liability form
- if under 18 years of age, have a parent or guardian sign a minor release
- possess a valid driver’s license, if driving a Safe House vehicle
- treat animals in our care with kindness and concern for their welfare
- represent themselves and Safe House in a professional manner and treat clients with respect
Please complete our Volunteer Application. Thank you again for your interest!
Check out a few of the current volunteer opportunities below for ideas on what we always need help with!
Assist offsite adoption staff by answering questions from the public and facilitating introductions between potential adopters and our animals. Follow up with clients after adoption to check in and answer any questions or concerns.
Barn Cat Buddies
Promote Safe House’s Barn Cat Program by posting flyers in appropriate venues like feed stores, tack stores, or any place that farmers or horse lovers frequent! Find farm homes in need of barn cats through word of mouth, flyers, posters, any way you can! If necessary, visit the farm to ensure barn cat placement is appropriate; follow up with new farm adopters to ensure successful transition. (Note: this program saves hundreds of lives per year and most volunteers find it particularly rewarding!)
eBay Sales Guru
List, sell, and ship donated items on eBay to raise funds for Safe House programs. Solicit product donations for eBay sales, encourage the development of the eBay program to contribute to Safe House goals.
Fundraising & Special Events
Our organization is completely dependent on donations. This committee assists in finding individual and business sponsors; oversees donor recognition; develops and assists with fundraising events.
