If you had passed Dell on the street where he had been living you probably wouldn’t have thought twice that he was a big old feral tomcat by the way he looked. But beneath the dirt and wounds was the most lovable boy never meant for being on the streets! Dell has had a rough life and it was apparent at first he took some time to trust but once he did, I had a buddy that wants my love and attention all the time. Dell is probably around seven but it’s hard to tell. He still loves to play and a nice catnip filled toy is his absolute favorite but you won’t catch him running laps around your house at midnight. His purr activates the minute you touch him and he loves to snuggle and will grab your hand and move it back towards him if he’s not done yet. Unfortunately Dell has some health issues he is FIV+ along with having hyperthyroidism. All this requires is a pill right now twice a day that he takes with no problem for the hyperthyroidism. Dell also needs a dental in the future to have most of his teeth removed as they are broken due to an injury the vet suspects had occurred and healed. We will take care of that at Mendota Companion Animal Centre where his treatment began.Dell has had a long road of recovery and isn’t quite finished yet but he’s ready to spend it in his forever home. Dell gets along with adults and older kids as well as other cats.( https://www.catster.com/lifestyle/cat-health-vet-study-fiv-positive-cats-living-together) Dell would do fine in a home with other cats as he is very laid back and they don’t seem to bother him at all. If you can open your heart to giving this deserving boy a forever home please apply today!

Please don't hesitate to contact us for the most up-to-date information on a particular cat.  Our cats are shown by appointment - we are a foster based rescue and so we don't have a location with set hours.

If you are interested in adopting or would like to meet our cats, please fill out our adoption application online at www.safehousepets.org/info/adoption and a volunteer will contact you promptly.
