If you are approved for adoption, we are now doing curbside adoptions in order to minimize contact.

About Seymour

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Cat
  • General Color: Brown Tabby
  • Housetrained: Yes
Do you have a lap that needs warming? Seymour would like to introduce himself as the best lap cat in the world, ready and willing to fill your lap with purrs and snuggles! This senior gentleman is a true people-cat who adores people, loves affection, and meows and meows as if he is talking to you about how your day went. Seymour guarantees to ALWAYS be happy to see you when you come home and to keep you company at night. He says he is beyond wanting to race around the house, cause trouble or chase mice, but would much rather spend his days lounging by the window in the sun and keeping your lap always occupied by a purring cat. In October of 2011, Seymour was diagnosed with squamous cell mandibular carcinoma - jaw cancer. This is an untreatable disease in cats, and sadly, it will make Seymour's time left on earth too short. The doctors say Seymour can expect to live up to 6 months and that he will need pain management and hospice care as his end time grows closer. Despite this, Seymour today is a happy and pain-free cat. He eats well, is in wonderful shape, and we hope he has many fine days ahead of him. Seymour is available for adoption to any special soul willing to undertake his condition, knowing you have provided a pet the most wonderful gift you can - his final days in a real home, knowing the love and support of a real family. Or, Seymour is available as a hospice foster to those in the immediate Mendota, IL area. Please contact us for more information if you're interested in being Seymour's hospice foster. Seymour is front declawed. He gets along well with other cats, dogs, and all people. All of our cats have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, microchipped, and tested for FIV/FeLV. Adoption fees: $50. Our cats are shown by appointment. If you are interested in adopting or would like to meet our cats, please fill out our adoption application online at www.safehousepets.org/adopt and a volunteer will contact you promptly.
